Laminate Floor Choices

in Floor

There used to be a time when the only way you could get the look of a real wood floor was to use exactly that -- real wood. The problem of course was due to the fact that a real wood floor could be very expensive, and although many houses did have this, in modern times it has been more normal to look at what is available in laminate flooring in order to get a similar effect. This article will look at some of the main choices that need to be made in order to get the right effect you are looking for.

The first thing you need to think about is whether or not you use planks or tiles. If you use planks for your laminate floor you will find that you will get a much more realistic effect, particularly if you use some of the darker wood laminates such as oak or walnut. By laying the planks in the correct way you can have a floor which looks so real that most people will be fooled into thinking it is exactly that. Laminate also has the added advantage that it will not mark or stain as much as real wood, and therefore can be much easier to keep in good condition.

However, laminate flooring tiles also have a part to play in producing some really great effects in your home. by choosing some of the more exotic designs such as those taken from Roman or Greek styles, you can really transform the look of the room. You can also make a huge impact by choosing the floor tiles which mirror the old-fashioned parquet flooring.

Because I think you need to consider is whether or not the laminate flooring is made up of interlocking planks or tiles, because by choosing this option you may find that you can install the flooring yourself, and therefore do not need to pay a professional flooring contractor to do the work for you. If you are doing a very large room than this can end up saving you quite a large sum of money.

Take a look at some of the great styles that are now available in laminate flooring and you are sure to not be disappointed.
